2-Day Small-Group Ephesus, Priene, Miletus & Didyma Tour from Kusadasi

Walk the marble streets of four legendary ancient cities on a single, expertly guided small-group journey.

This 2-day small-group Ephesus tour takes travelers beyond the famous ruins of Ephesus into the lesser-visited yet equally compelling ancient sites of Priene, Miletus, and Didyma. Limited to a maximum of ten guests, the format allows for a genuinely personal experience with a professional, knowledgeable guide throughout.

Day one centers on the UNESCO-recognized ancient city of Ephesus, beginning with a visit to the House of Virgin Mary perched in the hills above the valley. The route then descends into Ephesus itself, where marble-paved streets pass the Temple of Hadrian, the Celsus Library, the Grand Theater, and a host of civic monuments that defined one of antiquity's most sophisticated urban centers.

Day two shifts focus to three ancient Ionian sites along the Meander Valley and Aegean coastline. Priene, once a model of Hellenistic city planning, overlooks the fertile plain from a dramatic hillside setting. Miletus offers a remarkable Roman theater and the well-preserved Faustina Baths, while Didyma presents the colossal Temple of Apollo, one of the largest Ionic temples ever constructed and home to the iconic fallen Medusa head.

Tour Highlights

Explore the ancient city of Ephesus, including the Celsus Library and the Grand Theater that once seated 24,000 spectators.

Visit the House of Virgin Mary, a revered pilgrimage site where tradition holds that Mary spent her final years.

Discover the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the first large temple built entirely of marble.

Tour Priene, an ancient Greek holy city renowned for its sacred Temple of Athena and its commanding hilltop position above the Meander Valley.

Visit the Temple of Apollo at Didyma, the largest Ionic temple in the ancient world, still guarded by the cracked Medusa head from its original frieze.

Travel in a group of no more than ten guests, ensuring direct access to your guide and a relaxed pace at every site.

Enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch with soft drinks included on both days of the tour.

Itinerary

1
Day 1 — House of Virgin Mary

The tour begins with a visit to the House of Virgin Mary above Ephesus, a site of deep significance in Christian tradition and an active pilgrimage destination. According to biblical accounts, St. John the Evangelist accompanied Mary to Ephesus following the crucifixion, and she spent her final years in this modest stone dwelling.

Day 1 — Ancient City of Ephesus

A guided walk through Ephesus covers the State Agora, the Odeon, the Memmius Monument, the Temple of Domitian, Curetes Street, the Trajan Fountain, the Baths of Scholastica, the Temple of Hadrian, the Celsus Library, the Gate of Mithridates and Mazeus, the Commercial Agora, and the Grand Theater. The theater, originally built in the third century BC, was expanded by Rome to accommodate 24,000 spectators in the first century AD.

3
Day 1 — Temple of Artemis & Return to Kusadasi

The day concludes at the Temple of Artemis, counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World by the Greek poet Antipater. Dedicated to the Greek fertility goddess and constructed in the third century BC, it was the first monumental temple built entirely from marble. Guests return to their Kusadasi hotel in the afternoon.

4
Day 2 — Priene & Miletus

Following hotel pickup, the group travels to Priene, an ancient Greek city built on a terraced hillside above the Meander Valley and centered on the revered Temple of Athena. The route continues to Miletus, a major commercial and political hub from 700 BC through 700 AD, where the Roman Theater and the ornate Faustina Baths remain as principal attractions.

5
Day 2 — Didyma & Return to Kusadasi

The final stop is Didyma, site of the immense Temple of Apollo, the largest Ionic temple in the ancient world and a place of oracle sacred to the Greeks. The famous cracked Medusa head, which once decorated the temple's frieze, still rests on the ground nearby. Guests are then driven back to their Kusadasi hotel to conclude the tour.
