All-Inclusive 7-Day Private Trekking of Mount Ararat
Ascend the legendary peak of Anatolia on a fully supported private expedition through history, altitude, and wilderness.
This Mount Ararat private trekking tour takes you from the sun-warmed lowlands of eastern Turkey to the glaciated summit of the highest peak on the Anatolian plateau, standing at 5137 meters above sea level. Guided by experienced mountain professionals, the journey unfolds over seven days with all logistics, accommodations, meals, and equipment handled for you. Every stage of the ascent is designed to balance challenge with safety, allowing your body to acclimate properly before the final push to the top.
Mount Ararat is not simply a mountain — it is a place where geography, theology, and history converge. Regarded by many traditions as the resting place of Noah's Ark, the mountain straddles the borders of Turkey, Armenia, and Iran, making every view from its flanks a panorama across civilizations. Its twin peaks — Greater Ararat and Lesser Ararat — dominate the skyline of the Dogubeyazit plateau in a way that is difficult to describe without witnessing it firsthand.
The route passes through vivid ecological zones: green pastures at Base Camp 1 sheltered by stone walls, rocky terrain near Base Camp 2 at 4200 meters where meltwater from the glacier runs freely, and finally the ice and snow of the upper mountain. Porters and horses carry the heavy gear between camps so that trekkers can focus entirely on the walk ahead.
The itinerary also incorporates cultural visits to the ornate 17th-century Ishak Pasha Palace, a rare surviving example of Ottoman-era architecture in the region, and a stop at a scenic local waterfall before the ascent begins. These moments ground the expedition in the broader landscape of eastern Anatolia.

Itinerary Overview
Your chauffeur meets you at Van Airport or your hotel and drives you eastward toward the mountain town of Dogubeyazit. Along the way, stop at a scenic local waterfall dropping 18 meters, complete with a suspension bridge and a traditional tea house. In the evening, meet your mountain guide for a full equipment check and briefing.
After an early breakfast, a vehicle carries the group to the trailhead at 2000 meters. Porters load gear onto horses, and the trek begins — a 4 to 5 hour hike covering 8 to 10 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1100 meters. Lunch is served on the trail before arriving at Base Camp 1, a sheltered green pasture with stone windbreaks and full camp facilities.
To help the body adapt to altitude, the group hikes up to 4200 meters and returns to Base Camp 1 for dinner and overnight rest. This rotation day is a standard practice in high-altitude trekking and significantly improves summit success rates.
A six-hour hike of approximately 10 kilometers leads to Base Camp 2, positioned among natural rock formations that provide shelter from wind. Glacier meltwater is available near the campsite. The evening is spent resting and preparing mentally for the summit push the following morning.
The group departs at approximately 1 a.m. after an early breakfast, trekking 6 to 7 hours to the summit at 5137 meters. Crampons and an ice ax are provided and may be required for the final section. After photos at the top, the group descends to Base Camp 2, then continues down to Base Camp 1 at 3300 meters for a light dinner and overnight rest.
A four-hour descent leads from Base Camp 1 to Cevirme Village, where a vehicle waits. The group then visits Ishak Pasha Palace, a well-preserved 17th-century Ottoman palace that is one of the few remaining examples of its kind in the region. Return to the hotel in Dogubeyazit for a final night of rest.
