Pamukkale, Aphrodisias and Ephesus Tour in Two Days
Ancient cities, thermal terraces, and two millennia of history across western Anatolia.
The Pamukkale Aphrodisias Ephesus Tour brings together three of Turkey's most significant archaeological and natural sites in a single, well-paced two-day journey departing from Izmir. Each destination tells a distinct chapter of Anatolian history, from Hellenistic foundations to Roman grandeur and the unique geology of travertine terraces.
Ephesus stands as one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean world, where marble-paved streets lead past grand facades that once served a city of hundreds of thousands. Aphrodisias, named for the goddess Aphrodite, rewards visitors with an exceptionally intact stadium and some of the finest sculptural remains in Turkey. Together, these two sites offer a layered understanding of life under both Greek and Roman influence.
Pamukkale anchors the second day with its iconic white travertine pools formed by mineral-rich thermal waters cascading down a hillside. The adjacent ruins of Hierapolis extend the historical thread, while Laodikeia adds a lesser-visited Hellenistic and early Christian city to the itinerary. The tour returns to Izmir having covered a broad arc of the Aegean hinterland.

Itinerary
Your guide meets you at your Izmir hotel and the group departs for Ephesus. On site, you walk through the ancient city's main thoroughfares, passing the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, and the Temple of Hadrian with guided commentary throughout.
After Ephesus, the tour continues to Aphrodisias, dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite and renowned for its sculpture school. Highlights include the stadium, one of the best-preserved in the ancient world, and the on-site museum housing marble works found during excavations.
The group arrives in Pamukkale for an overnight stay at a hotel with thermal pool access. Guests have time to relax and enjoy the mineral-rich waters before the second day of sightseeing.
After breakfast, the tour visits Laodikeia, a Hellenistic city founded by Seleucid King Antiochus II in the 3rd century BC and named after his wife Laodike. The site contains a colonnaded street, two theatres, and early Christian basilica remains.
The group walks the travertine terraces of Pamukkale, where calcium carbonate deposited by thermal springs has formed a series of white stepped pools over thousands of years. Directly above the terraces, Hierapolis offers a theatre, a sacred pool, and an extensive necropolis.
Following the Hierapolis visit, the group departs Pamukkale and travels back to Izmir, completing a circuit of western Anatolia's principal heritage sites. Drop-off is at Izmir hotels.
