          Teide National Park is located in the heart of Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, an autonomous Spanish archipelago situated in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 300 kilometres west of the Moroccan coast. The park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 in recognition of its outstanding volcanic geology, unique biodiversity, and the scientific and cultural significance of Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain and the third-largest volcano in the world measured from its oceanic base.
