Kameiros is an ancient Greek city-state located on the northwest coast of Rhodes island, Greece, approximately 36 kilometers southwest of Rhodes Town. One of the three original Doric cities of Rhodes alongside Ialyssos and Lindos, it was inhabited from at least the Mycenaean period and flourished during the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic eras before declining following the synoikismos that founded Rhodes city in 408 BC. The site is administered by the Greek Ministry of Culture and is included on organized excursion itineraries from Rhodes Town. Content has been compiled from archaeological surveys, Greek Ministry of Culture records, and established travel research for the Dodecanese region.
