Mosfellsbær is a municipality in the Capital Region of Iceland, located approximately 18 kilometres northeast of Reykjavik in the Mosfellsdalur valley. It is framed by the Esja mountain range and crossed by geothermally fed rivers, placing it at the intersection of suburban Iceland and the country's rugged highland interior. The area is recognised for its association with Nobel Prize-winning author Halldor Laxness, whose home Gljufrasteinn is preserved as a national museum within the municipal boundaries.
