Thesprotia is a regional unit in the Epirus periphery of northwestern Greece, bordered by Albania to the north, the Ionian Sea to the west, and the regional units of Ioannina and Preveza to the east and south. Its capital, Igoumenitsa, serves as the primary ferry gateway between Greece and Italy. The region encompasses the mythologically significant Acheron River, the ancient oracle site known as the Necromanteion, and a stretch of Ionian coastline that remains substantially undeveloped compared to neighboring Corfu and Parga.
