          Bourges is the capital of the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of central France, situated approximately 240 kilometres south of Paris. Its Cathedral of Saint-Étienne was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992, recognised for its Gothic architecture and exceptional medieval stained glass collection spanning the 12th to 17th centuries.
