More to know about Preveli Beach

Preveli Beach is located on the southern coast of Crete, Greece, in the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is renowned for its pristine sandy shores and crystal-clear turquoise waters, backed by dramatic limestone cliffs. A freshwater lagoon fed by the Megalopotamos River creates a unique ecosystem where visitors swim, sunbathe, and hike through the surrounding palm grove to explore this distinctive coastal landscape.
Preveli Beach is located on the southern coast of Crete in the Rethymno regional unit, Greece, at the mouth of the Kourtaliotiko Gorge where the Megalopotamos River meets the Libyan Sea. The site is protected under EU habitat directives for its grove of Phoenix theophrasti, the native Cretan date palm, and sits approximately 38 kilometres south of Rethymno town.
