          More to know about Groningen

Groningen is a historic city in the northern Netherlands, serving as the cultural and economic hub of its province. The Martinitoren, a 16th-century church tower, dominates the skyline above the medieval city center. Visitors explore narrow streets lined with Renaissance architecture, visit museums, and sample local cuisine in cafes around the central Grote Markt square.
Groningen is the capital city of the Groningen province in the northeastern Netherlands, located approximately 200 kilometres north of Amsterdam. With a population of around 235,000, it is the largest city in the northern Netherlands and home to one of the country's most prominent research universities. The city's historic centre, largely spared from World War II bombing, retains a well-preserved medieval and early-modern urban fabric alongside contemporary cultural architecture.
