          Midyat is a historic town located on the Tur Abdin plateau in Mardin Province, southeastern Turkey, approximately 95 kilometers east of Mardin city. It sits at an elevation of roughly 900 meters above sea level near the Syrian border and serves as the cultural and spiritual center of the Syriac Orthodox Christian community in Turkey. The region is designated as part of a UNESCO World Heritage tentative list for its exceptional concentration of ancient stone architecture and living religious heritage.
