          More to know about Almada

Almada is a city in the Setúbal region of southern Portugal, situated across the Tagus River from Lisbon. The Cristo Rei statue, a towering monument overlooking the river, defines the city's skyline. The Sanctuary of Cristo Rei is a major pilgrimage site and architectural landmark. Visitors typically hike to viewpoints, explore the historic center, and take ferries across the Tagus to experience the riverine landscape.
Almada is a city and municipality on the south bank of the Tagus estuary in the Setubal District of Portugal, located directly opposite Lisbon in the Greater Lisbon metropolitan area. It is best known internationally for the Cristo Rei sanctuary and statue, inaugurated in 1959, and for the Cacilhas waterfront, which has served as a ferry crossing point to Lisbon for centuries. The municipality encompasses diverse landscapes ranging from the urbanised riverside districts to the Atlantic-facing coastline of Costa da Caparica and the natural areas of the Setubal Peninsula to the south.
