          Neuchâtel is a city in northwestern Switzerland, situated on the shore of Lake Neuchâtel in the Jura region.           Neuchatel is the capital of the Swiss canton of the same name, situated on the northwestern shore of Lake Neuchatel at an elevation of approximately 430 meters. The city serves as an academic, cultural, and administrative center for the canton, home to the University of Neuchatel founded in 1838.
