Covadonga is a village in Asturias, northern Spain, located in the Picos de Europa mountain range. The site holds historical significance as the location of the 722 Battle of Covadonga, a pivotal moment in the Reconquista. Covadonga is located in the municipality of Cangas de Onis, Asturias, northern Spain, within the protected boundaries of Picos de Europa National Park. It occupies a limestone gorge at approximately 260 meters above sea level, with the associated Lagos de Covadonga rising to around 1,100 meters.
