          Vothonas is a traditional village in Crete, Greece, located in the Heraklion region of the island. The settlement features whitewashed stone houses with characteristic Cretan architecture and narrow winding streets.           Vothonas is a small troglodyte settlement located in the central-eastern interior of Santorini (Thira), Greece, in the South Aegean region. The village is carved into volcanic tufa cliffs and sits approximately 3 kilometres from the island capital, Fira. It represents one of the best-preserved examples of yposkafa vernacular cave architecture in the Cyclades and falls within the municipality of Thira.
