Coupvray is a small commune in the Île-de-France region, located east of Paris in northern France. The village is home to the Birthplace of Louis Braille, the inventor of the tactile reading and writing system for the blind. Coupvray is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department of the Ile-de-France region, situated approximately 40 km east of Paris on the Brie plateau. It is internationally recognised as the birthplace of Louis Braille (1809-1852), inventor of the Braille tactile writing system, and the Maison Natale de Louis Braille is listed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.
