          Olympia is an ancient archaeological site in the Peloponnese region of Greece, located in West Greece. It is renowned as the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, held every four years from 776 BCE. The sanctuary contains the Temple of Zeus, one of antiquity's greatest monuments, and the remains of the original stadium. Visitors explore the archaeological ruins, museum exhibits, and the sacred grounds where athletes competed.
          Olympia is located in the western Peloponnese region of Greece, in the Elis regional unit, at the confluence of the Alpheios and Kladeos rivers. The archaeological site and associated museums are administered by the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports.
