Calascio is a mountain village in the Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, central Italy, situated at approximately 1,460 metres above sea level on a ridge above the Campo Imperatore plateau within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. Its ruined 10th-century fortress, Rocca Calascio, is the highest castle in the Apennines and a recognised cultural heritage site that has served as a film location for international productions.
