Myrdalshreppur is a municipality in southern Iceland situated beneath the Myrdalsjokull ice cap along the Ring Road (Route 1), approximately 180 kilometers southeast of Reykjavik. The area encompasses the village of Vik i Myrdal, the Katla volcanic system, Reynisfjara black sand beach, Dyrholaey promontory, and access routes to the Thorsmork nature reserve, making it one of the most geologically and scenically significant destinations on the Icelandic south coast.
