Langjökull ist Islands zweitgrößter Gletscher und liegt im Hochland Zentralislands. Langjokull is Iceland's second-largest ice cap, located approximately 150 kilometres northeast of Reykjavik in the Western Highlands. Covering over 950 square kilometres at elevations up to 1,450 metres, it straddles the Borgarfjordur and Kjolur highland regions and feeds major glacial rivers including the Hvita, which sources the Gullfoss waterfall. The glacier sits above a volcanic caldera and contains one of Iceland's most visited man-made ice tunnel systems, operated year-round for guided visitor access.
